Omaha Stump GrindingAfter having a tree removed from your property, you will be left with a stubborn wooden stump. Remember your younger days when mom and dad made you push mow the front lawn, and every time you got to that "one spot" the blades would grind on an exposed tree root or stump? We sure do. That's why most customers prefer to have them removed after cutting down a tree.
Stump removal can be a daunting task if you have never had it done before. In the olden days, they used shovels and axes to completely cut the tree out, which was literally back breaking work. Fortunately for us (and our backs), technology has advanced and we have access to state of the art equipment to ensure a thorough job from start to finish. There are two main options when dealing with stump removal. One is stump removal, and the other is stump grinding. Stump removal requires all tree roots to be dug out and cut. Once the stump has been separated from the roots, it can be dug up and lifted out with a crane. Dirt is then used to back fill the hole where the stump once was. |
Stump grinding on the other hand utilizes a piece of machinery that contains a round blade that chews through the stump and forms very small wood chips. The wood chips are then used to back fill the hole where the stump once was.
There are advantages and disadvantages to both. Typically with smaller trees, the stump can be completely separated from its root system and removed whole. For bigger and older trees, the stump grinding method seems to work best. Other factors that help in determining whether stump removal or stump grinding would be most beneficial include the environment in which the removal is taking place. An example would be a enclosed back yard where only small equipment can fit, versus a front yard with street access that allows for a crane to pull out the stump.
